The latest betting odds, trends and more for this NFC matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions.

To help kickoff the Week 5 Sunday slate, the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to take on the Detroit Lions. The 3-0 Eagles were riding high before their bye last week and the 1-3 Lions are coming off of a tough loss to the Chicago Bears.

Oddshark lists the Eagles as one-point road favorites in this game. The over/under is set at 46 points. It is not surprising to see the Eagles favored, but I am a bit surprised that it is not by more. The Lions get a boost from being at home, but these are two teams heading in opposite directions.

Carson Wentz has been incredible for the Eagles this season. The rookie has poise beyond his years and is as confident as they come. I expect him to continue to have success against a shaky Lions’ defense who has been hammered by injuries.

The other side of the ball also paints a positive picture for the Eagles. Matthew Stafford has led a strong Lions’ offensive attack at times, but they were awful last week against the Bears.

Now, Stafford and company will have to face an elite Eagles’ defense. Philadelphia has allowed a league-best nine points per game this season. The Lions undoubtedly have a tough test this week on both sides of the ball.

The betting trends also point towards the Eagles. They are 4-1 both straight up and against the spread in their last five games and are also 4-1 in their last five on the road. On the flip side, the Lions are 3-7 in their last 10 games at home against the spread and 3-6 in their last nine games overall ATS.

Also, the game has gone OVER in four the Eagles’ last five games on the road, while also hitting OVER in six of the Lions’ last eight games at home.

While betting with the trends can be tricky, they clearly favor Philly and the OVER in this game.

Odds

Line: PHI -1
Over/Under: 46

These are two teams that appear to be heading in different directions. That being said, the Lions certainly have the ability to step up and make this one close. They are far too inconsistent for me to bet on that, but it will certainly be interesting to watch.

This game will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday, October 9th. It will be televised live on FOX.
