Dolphins abandon run game despite Lamar Miller's hot start

The Miami Dolphins fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 24-14 in Week 11, dropping their record to 4-6 on the year. They never held a lead in the game and fell behind 14-0 in the second quarter, and were unable to mount a comeback.

With that 14 point deficit came a lack of the run game. Lamar Miller finished the day with seven carries for 44 yards, which comes out to a healthy 6.3 yards per carry. Despite his big average, the Dolphins chose to abandon the run game in favor of Ryan Tannehill's arm.

The Dolphins would finish the game with just 14 rushing attempts for 70 yards, which put them in a huge hole in time of possession. They held the ball for just 21 minutes and 10 seconds compared to 38 minutes and 50 seconds for the Cowboys.

It's been a common trend for the Dolphins this season as they rank in the bottom of the league in rushing attempts, despite having one of the highest yards per carry averages in the NFL. Miami's playoff hopes are quickly diminishing with each loss as they'll need to win at least five of their final six games to have a shot.
