Denver made NFL Draft waves by swapping picks with Detroit to grab Shane Ray.

But John Elway might've wanted to jump higher than the Lions at No. 23, according to this report from NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

According to the NFL Draft pick value chart, Denver would've needed to surrender about 90 more "pick points" to jump eight spots rather than five. That's the equivalent of an early third-round pick.

No one knows what the Broncos actually offered the Eagles. Instead, Elway found a willing trade partner in the Lions, who received two extra fifth-rounders and guard Manny Ramirez in their deal.

Chip Kelly got the receiver he wanted. And Elway got the pass rusher to pair with Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware this season.
