Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore finally takes second-team reps

Kellen Moore has been with the Detroit Lions since the 2012 season, but he has never played a game. Last season, Moore was the third-stringer behind backup Dan Orlovsky and starter Matthew Stafford. Although Orlovsky is still around, Moore has cut into his second-team reps during OTA workouts, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
With an impressive summer, Moore could oust Orlovsky as Stafford's immediate backup.
"We'll see what happens," Moore told the Free Press. "Obviously, at the end of the day, come the season, everyone's got a role, and you do that role to the best of your ability. We'll see what happens. Right now, we're just getting here, getting reps, which is nice."
Moore outplayed Orlovsky last preseason from a statistical standpoint, and Birkett points out that Moore's current contract (two years, $1.8 million) is worth more than Orlovsky's (one year, $1 million).
"There's no definitive system here," Moore said about the competition, per the Free Press. "At the end of the day, probably over the course of the whole off-season, hopefully each of us get a few reps in each situation."
