Denard Robinson signs first contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fifth-round draft pick Denard Robinson to a contract.

According the league's rookie slotting system, Robinson gets a signing bonus around $210,000 and counts about $450,000 against the salary cap.

A college quarterback at Michigan who is learning how to play running back in Jacksonville, Robinson is expected to see playing time as a rookie. The Jaguars list him as an ''offensive weapon.''

Robinson finished his college career with the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NCAA history (4,495). He ran for 1,266 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. He also threw for 1,319 yards and nine scores.

The Jaguars now have two draft picks unsigned: fourth-rounder Ace Sanders and sixth-rounder Josh Evans.
