Del Rio: Oakland had a 'very productive offseason' in 2015
Will 2015 be the season Raiders fans turn to as their team's turning point?
It's too early to tell. But new coach Jack Del Rio thinks the Silver and Black added some key building blocks for what appears to be a promising future.
“Our free agency was sound and solid and we acquired some really good players," Del Rio said. "(We) strengthened our team, made it more competitive, and then we feel like we come out of this draft weekend feeling good about the work that went into it."
Raiders fans should feel good about this offseason, too. General manager Reggie McKenzie has purged a few aging veterans in favor of younger, more malleable players. Young QB Derek Carr will have a promising star to throw to for the foreseeable future, too.
Del Rio probably knows his roster is better now than when he agreed to coach the team. As he put a bow on his offseason, he sounds excited about what his new team is capable of.
“It’s a great time to be a Raider,” Del Rio said. “I’m excited to be leading the franchise.”
