Dan Quinn on Matt Ryan: 'He's absolutely the competitor that I want'

While Matt Ryan's struggles were just a part of the team dropping yet another game, their fourth in a row and fifth in the last six, it's obvious that his play will be under a microscope.

Ryan completed 22 of 31 passes for 230 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against during the 20-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. One key issue, is that this is now his third multi-interception game over the past five, and often times they are backbreaking interceptions.

Fortunately, it seems as if there is no questioning Ryan from both head coach Dan Quinn and owner Arthur Blank, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

"He's absolutely the competitor that I want. He's what we look for and our team looks for the whole way," Quinn told ESPN of Ryan. "What we'll go back and look at is, find out was there a decision that could be made that could be different. If there is in those scenarios, then we'll find those and say, 'Where else could you have gone with it?' Those will be decisions that we look at.

"But for him, the competitor [and] the style of player that he is, we're not backing off.''

As for Blank, when he was asked if he has confidence in Ryan, he didn't flinch.

"Absolutely,'' Blank said. "He's demonstrated his abilities over eight years. He'll be fine. He'll be good.''

There you have it. While the Falcons may be struggling, any changes won't involve Ryan and the quarterback position.
