Cowboys bring back OL Arkin on practice squad

Published Oct. 29, 2013 1:09 a.m. ET

The Cowboys have signed guard David Arkin to their practice squad two days after releasing him to create a roster spot for a safety.

Arkin is a fourth-round pick from 2011 who hasn't played in a game for Dallas. He was inactive for six straight games before his release.

Coach Jason Garrett said the Cowboys wanted to keep Arkin, so they made the roster move late last week to try to get him through waivers.

Starting guard Brian Waters sustained rib, knee and triceps injuries in Sunday's 31-30 loss to Detroit. Garrett said Monday the triceps injury was the biggest concern.

If Waters is out, Mackenzy Bernadeau could start again after eventually losing his job when Waters signed days before the season started.
