When looking for value heading into Week 8 Fantasy Football, New York Jets running back Matt Forte might be just what the doctor ordered.

So, it’s a few hours until kickoff, and you desperately need a sleeper fantasy football halfback heading into Week 8. Well, what about New York Jets running back Matt Forte?

Whether found riding your bench or drifting around free agency, don’t be afraid to call upon the 30-year-old “Windy City” castaway. Even in the midst of a hit-or-miss 2016.

Last Sunday, Forte racked up 154 total yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens. This Sunday, he suits up to take on the Cleveland Browns.

The very same Browns that possess a particularly lackluster defensive unit. Especially when warding off opposing rushers.

As a matter of fact, they are currently ranked 29th in the NFL in rush defense, which bodes well for Forte. Along with every other tailback in the league, that passes through Cleveland.

Let’s not forget about Gang Green’s recent quarterback woes either.

Geno Smith is out indefinitely with a torn ACL, meaning that Ryan Fitzpatrick is once again under center. If this were 2015, that would’ve been great news. However, this is 2016, the year that “Fitzmagic” became “Fitztragic.”

After a season riddled with multi-interception starts and bench-worthy play, it seems doubtful that Fitz will be called upon to carry the offense in Week 8. Meaning that a healthy dose of the ground game is to be expected.

Forte, when healthy, has been a workhorse for the Jets offense this season and Sunday will be no exception. So, why not capitalize on this glaring mismatch and watch the points roll in?
