Colts Sign RB Toure

Published May. 11, 2015 1:38 p.m. ET

As an undrafted free agent attending the Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, Abou Toure needed to give the team a reason to keep him around beyond the weekend.

Whatever he did worked. On Sunday, The Colts signed the running back out of the University of Tennessee-Martin, and he'll compete for a roster spot in training camp. The move was announced on the team's official website.

Toure ran for 1,138 yards and eight touchdowns his senior season with the Skyhawks.

He faces an even bigger challenge in trying to make the 53-man roster in Indianapolis. The Colts depth chart at running back features Frank Gore, Dan Herron, Vick Ballard and fellow rookie Josh Robinson.

To make room for the Toure, the Colts released linebacker Terrell Hartsfield, who was signed as a free agent following the draft.
