Colts Injury Report: Team Rules Out 6 Players Ahead of Sunday's Game

The Indianapolis Colts have ruled out 6 players ahead of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs including TE Dwayne Allen (ankle), DE Henry Anderson (knee), DE Kendall Langford (knee), OLB Curt Maggitt (ankle), OG Jack Mewhort (tricep), and WR Chester Rogers (hamstring & foot).

For a consecutive week, the Colts offense will miss both Allen and Mewhort as starters, but it’s worth noting that replacements Jack Doyle and Joe Haeg played well in their absence last weekend versus the Tennessee Titans respectively (with the re-insertion of veteran Joe Reitz at starting right tackle as well).

It’s at defensive line where the Colts will have a new addition to the inactive list, as Langford has been ‘shut down for a little bit‘ with no definite timetable for his return–still suffering from a balky knee that hasn’t fully recovered from offseason surgery.

With fellow starter Anderson out for another week, the Colts will be heavily relying on veteran Art Jones, as well as key young rotational defensive lineman such as Zach Kerr-who’s returning this week, T.Y. McGill, and Hassan Ridgeway.

While Langford was still clearly hindered by his knee, the Colts defensive line depth will be tested against a Kansas City Chiefs rushing attack that features young and talented running back Spencer Ware, who’s taken over the reins of the position due to injuries to former starter Jamaal Charles–with the veteran already having been declared out with a knee injury.

Otherwise, wide receiver Donte Moncrief will return to the starting lineup alongside T.Y. Hilton, which is a significant boost to the Colts offense.

At 6’2″, 222 pounds, Moncrief is the receiving corps’ most versatile weapon with his ability to go deep, under, or over the middle, and the closest thing to a possession wideout that the Colts can deploy.

It’s the first time that Moncrief will have played since Week 2 against the Denver Broncos, having missed the last 5 weeks due to a separated shoulder.

It’s worth noting that the Colts will also get 2nd-year wideout Phillip Dorsett back from a hamstring injury, who will step back into the 3rd-wide receiver role with undrafted rookie Chester Rogers now out of commission.

Lastly, rotational pass rusher Curt Maggitt will miss another week of action with an ankle injury, as the team will turn to recently claimed backup outside linebacker Lavar Edwards once again for additional depth at the position.
