Chris Maragos signs three-year contract extension with Eagles

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Chris Maragos just got paid.

You know that Chris Maragos guy who wears No. 42 and runs around and hits people on punts and kickoffs? Well, he’s really good at that, so the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to a contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman (or whatever his actual title is) had the following to say on the Maragos signing:

“His work ethic, team-first attitude, accountability and high character are things he brings to work every single day.”

That’s so nice of him to say! What a guy.

Maragos isn’t going to make big plays, but he does play an important role on the Eagles’ elite special teams unit and is well-liked within the Eagles locker room. I mean how can you not like this guy?

True patriot.

With this new deal, the Eagles will be keeping one of the NFL’s elite special teams players in the City of Brotherly Love through 2019.

Not a bad deal.
