Chip Kelly: LeSean McCoy phone story is 'tabloid journalism'

Chip Kelly says the story about him calling LeSean McCoy this week and being hung up on is false and an example of tabloid journalism.

A report from the Philly Inquirer on Sunday said that the Philadelphia Eagles head coach tried calling McCoy to smooth things over this week. McCoy supposedly did not recognize the number and answered the phone. The report says that when Kelly identified himself, McCoy hung up.

After Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Buffalo Bills, Kelly had the opportunity to address the report and called it false.

“A lot of it to me is tabloid journalism that they’re just trying to stir things up ... when people want to make up false stories about me calling someone during the week and him hanging up on me … people just trying to get Twitter hits and make themselves significant when s— just doesn’t happen,” Kelly said after Sunday’s win over the Bills. “No, I never called McCoy this week.”

Well, so much for that report. If you believe Kelly, no call was ever made.

It seems like Kelly is really trying to move past his beef with McCoy, but McCoy really still seems to be hung up on despising his former coach.
