Childress addresses Favre allegations

Published Oct. 10, 2010 1:10 a.m. ET

Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress said Saturday that allegations suggesting quarterback Brett Favre sent racy pictures to a former New York Jets employee were "not a distraction" ahead of Monday’s game, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

His remarks came as the NFL launched an internal investigation into Thursday’s Deadspin.com report that Favre left two inappropriate voice messages and sent lewd pictures to Jenn Sterger, a sideline reporter, while playing for the Jets in 2008.

"It's not a distraction to us at all. We just don't let it be," Childress said, as his team prepared to face the Jets Monday.

"We address it, we talk about it, and then we're done with it. It doesn't affect anyone else in this locker room but Brett Favre," he added.

Favre, who will turn 41 Sunday, has also been dealing with on-field issues. Childress said Saturday the Vikings were monitoring mild inflammation on the quarterback's right throwing arm, the paper reported.
