Justin Houston's big new contract could end up benefiting the Chiefs in an even bigger way.

According to cap-tracking site Spotrac, Houston's six-year, $101 million deal freed up around $8 million in cap space. That leaves general manager John Dorsey with exactly $8,888,105 to work with if he wants to pursue free agents.

One name that could resurface again is Evan Mathis. A tight cap squeeze might've dissuaded Dorsey from chasing the ex-Pro Bowler, but that's no longer such an issue.

Veteran wide receivers James Jones and Reggie Wayne could also make sense for the suddenly-flush Chiefs.
