Chiefs roster prediction: The final 53

The Kansas City Chiefs need to get to 53 players by Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CST. Here’s my stab at who they keep.

Kansas City general manager John Dorsey is going to have some very tough decisions to make. The Chiefs are more loaded then they have been in recent years, leaving plenty of quality players on the roster bubble.

Typically, teams keep 25 players on offense and 25 on defense, with the remaining three being on special teams. While it isn’t something a team would normally do, I’m keeping four running backs on the team. Knile Davis simply has too much value in the return game to ignore. If you don’t think that has a ton of value, re-watch the playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Defensively, there is going to be a logjam at corner. After the team acquired Kenneth Acker from the San Francisco 49ers, it is hard to see either Marcus Cooper or Jamell Fleming making the roster. Cooper would have the better shot because he play a bit of safety and corner, but it is hard to see him gaining a spot.
