Chicago Bears reportedly add Mark Sanchez to help their quarterback depth
Two days after visiting with the Chicago Bears, Mark Sanchez agreed to terms with the club, NFL Network reported Thursday.
Sanchez spent last season with the Cowboys as their backup QB and is expected to fill that same role in Chicago, this time holding the clipboard for 27-year-old Mike Glennon, who signed a three-year, $43.5 million deal earlier this month.
Sanchez played in just two games last season, throwing a total of 18 passes while being picked off twice. The 30-year-old has started 72 games in his career but just 10 in the previous three years combined.
The former fifth pick from the 2009 draft hasn’t found much success after leading the Jets to back-to-back AFC title games his first two years in the league.
For the first time since 2008, the Bears won't have Jay Cutler under center after releasing him earlier this month. Chicago also opted to let quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley walk in free agency after its 3-13 season.
