The Chicago Bears dropped their record to 0-3 after another frustrating defeat, this week a 31-17 loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. When will they notch their first win of the season?
The Chicago Bears 2016 season keeps getting worse as the Bears dropped to 0-3 following their 31-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescot led the Cowboys to the victory, marking the second straight week that a rookie QB led the opposition past the Bears defense with relative ease.
Upcoming Schedule
The final score was not indicative of the beating the Bears took. The Cowboys had racked up 17 points before the Bears recorded their first first down. This game was 24-3 by halftime. The Bears were able to put up some points in the second half while the Cowboys tried to salt the game away.
The loss ensures the Bears will finish with a winless September and a big hole in the NFC North. When can the Bears plan to get their first win in the 2016 season? Let’s look ahead at the next five opponents and see where the Chicago Bears might notch their first win of the 2016 season.
The Bears will play five games in the month of October leading up to their bye week. Can they crack the win column before they take their Week 9 bye? The Bears will face the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Let’s look at each opponent and the Bears chances of beating them.
Vs. Detroit Lions (1-2)
The Bears will host the 1-2 Detroit Lions on Sunday in their first divisional showdown of the season. A lot of Bears fans would like to chalk this up as a win, because, well, it’s the Lions. I’ll remind you that the last time the Bears beat the Lions was Lovie Smith’s last game in the 2012 season! The Bears have lost their last six games against the Lions.
This is a different version of the Detroit Lions of season past. There is no Megatron to contend with, so Matthew Stafford has had to spread the ball around a bit more. He’s got a new favorite target in free agent acquisition Marvin Jones.

The Lions have suffered a few injuries already losing running back Ameer Abdullah to a season-ending injury. The Lions might be without key defenders Ziggy Ansah (ankle) and DeAndre Levy (quad), yet the visiting Lions come to Soldier Field as three-point favorites.

@ Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
If the Bears can’t turn it around against their division rivals in Week 4, perhaps they can try to earn that first win against a struggling Indianapolis Colts team? A lot of experts expected this to be a bounceback season for Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts posted a disappointing 8-8 record in 2015 while missing the postseason.

The Colts are tied for 5th in scoring in the NFL, posting 27 PPG while piling up 371 yards/game. Andrew Luck is putting up a tick over 300 yards per game with six TD’s to just two INT’s while getting sacked nine times in three games. Frank Gore and the Colts running game is underwhelming with just 61.7 yards per game. Between the sacks and lack of a running game, you can infer the offensive line isn’t all that good.
The bigger problem for the Colts is their defense, where they rank 30th in the league giving up over 31 points per game. This could present an opportunity for the Bears offense to finally get it together. Who knows, maybe Jay Cutler will be back. Then again, the Bears defense is hardly much better, allowing nearly 28 points per game.

Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3)
You might be looking at the Jaguars 0-3 record and thinkings, this is finally the Bears chance to chalk up an easy win. Think again! The Jaguars almost took the Packers out in Week 1 and by all rights should have won their Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. They could easily be 2-1 so far this season.
The Jaguars were on many people’s radars as “the surprise” team. They had all of the ingredients last season to make a push in 2016. A young, improving quarterback with a couple of killer wide receivers and a stud tight end to power the offense behind Gus Bradley’s improving defense loaded with young draft picks.
The Jags head to London this week to take on the Colts, then they get their bye week, so they’ll be coming to Soldier Field well rested. Bears fans might have this game circled, but so do the Jags.

@ Green Bay Packers (2-1) (Thursday Night Football)
The Bears get no favors from the schedule makers. After playing a well-rested Jaguars team on Sunday, the Bears get to turn around 4 days later and play the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football.
The Bears problems with the Packers are well documented. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers seemed to be going through one of their early-season slow starts with a 1-1 record while struggling to a Week 1 win over the Jaguars followed by a Week 2 loss to the Vikings, but then exploded for 34 points and withstood a late charge by the Lions for a 34-27 win.
Aaron Rodgers’ career splits vs the Bears include a 12-4 record with nearly 3900 yards, 35 TD’s to just 9 INT’s for a passer rating of 107.3. On the other sideline, if he’s back, Jay Cutler’s career splits vs the Packers are not quite as stellar: 2-11 record with 2881 yards, 16 TD’s to 22 INT’s for a passer rating of 68.9. That’s about all you need to know about this matchup, isn’t it?

Vs. Minnesota Vikings (3-0) (Monday Night Football)
The Bears get to close out October on Halloween night against the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears will be well-rested while coming off a Thursday night game the week before while the Vikes will be coming off a trip to the surprising Philadelphia Eagles the Sunday before.

The Vikings are everything that we wish the Bears could be. Lose your quarterback for the season? No problem! Lose your future Hall of Fame running back? Piece of cake. The Vikings have the type of defense that makes Bears fan drool. They’ve been dominant this season and carried Minnesota to a 3-0 record while giving up a tick above 14 points per game. Considering the Bears are among the worst offenses in the league, this has the makings for a long night. The

Considering the Bears are among the worst offenses in the league, this has the makings for a long night. I suspect the tricks will be on the Bears side and the treats will go for the Vikings.
I think it’s more likely for the Vikings to be coming to Soldier Field undefeated than it is for the Bears to be winless. Needless to say, if the Vikings are undefeated coming into Chicago, they’ll be leaving with their undefeated schedule intact.
