Chicago Bears: Cameron Meredith becoming a stud NFL WR
Who in the world is Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith? Where did he come from? We’re here to give you the story on how this budding star came to be…
Chicago Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith has put together two consecutive weeks with over 100 yards receiving.
What?
Who the heck is Cameron Meredith?
Well, he’s a former college quarterback at Illinois State who made the transition to wide receiver before his junior campaign, had a big senior season, and wound up signing with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent after impressing scouts at the Northwestern pro day with his frame, speed, and athletic ability.
He played for the Bears sparingly in last year’s regular season, catching 11 passes for 120 yards. So far in 2016, Meredith has gone from borderline anonymous to the stud the Bears have been craving on the opposite side of the field from Alshon Jeffery.
He has 20 catches for 243 yards and a touchdown over the last two weeks, including an 11 catch performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With the way the Bears have been struggling to find a receiver to pair with Jeffery, Meredith has provided a ray of hope. He is the prototypical NFL wide receiver in terms of size and speed, and at just 24 years of age, he’s really putting it together in Chicago.

Meredith has become a must-have for your fantasy football team, and he’s becoming everything the Bears had hoped for from Kevin White, who is on injured reserve for the second consecutive year.
As disappointing as it is to see White on IR, it’s good to see some young players for the Bears’ offense having success despite the number of critical injuries this team has faced, starting with the injury to quarterback Jay Cutler.
Young players like Meredith and Jordan Howard are making their mark on this Chicago offense, one that could be without Alshon Jeffery after this season.
If the former Illinois State receiver can continue emerging for his favorite childhood team, they might not lose any sleep over such a loss. He looks hungry every time he touches the ball, and he’s playing at an incredibly high level right now.
Watch out for this kid.
