Chargers CB Verrett has Bay Area ties, but will root for LeBron

You'd think that Jason Verrett's tattoo of the Golden Gate Bridge would be a dead giveaway about his loyalties in the NBA Finals.

And you'd be wrong. Despite his Bay Area roots, it turns out the Chargers cornerback is an even bigger fan of LeBron James.

"I'm going for LeBron," Verrett told U-T San Diego. "I always liked the Warriors, but I'm more so a player fan than a team fan. I'm more of a LeBron fan."

That simple fact is what separates the NFL from the NBA. Verrett, like so many others, will root for an individual player over a region when the Cleveland Cavaliers tip off against his hometown Golden State Warriors.
