Carson Wentz was 'lying in the middle of a cornfield' when he was promoted to starter

Carson Wentz’s rookie season was turned on its head Saturday, when the Philadelphia Eagles traded Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings. In just a few days, Wentz went from possibly sitting on the sideline for the entire year to being the starter in Week 1.
On Monday, head coach Doug Pederson announced the news that Wentz will start the season opener against the Cleveland Browns, but it sounds like he informed the rookie of the news beforehand. Wentz told reporters he found out about his promotion while lying in a cornfield hunting geese.
Yes, seriously.
Let’s not forget that Wentz was born in North Dakota and played for the North Dakota State Bison. That’s telling of his personality and lifestyle, as well as his hobbies. Wentz said it had been a rough morning before getting the call from Pederson, which brightened it quite a bit.
Wentz said he got one goose while hunting before getting the call from Pederson. "It was a rough morning." That changed in a hurry. #Eagles

Wentz said he was “obviously very surprised” by the news – likely referring to the fact that Bradford was traded – but was “instantly really excited” to be named the guy under center.
