Carson Wentz gets rave reviews while Sam Bradford struggles at OTA
Now that Sam Bradford has put aside his trade demands, it's time for the veteran quarterback to get to work with the Philadelphia Eagles. And his first order of business is making it clear that he should be the starting quarterback Week 1, not No. 2-overall pick Carson Wentz.
But during Tuesday's OTA session, which was open to the media, Bradford looked like the rookie while Wentz appeared to be the savvy veteran.
According to NJ.com, Wentz missed on one deep throw Tuesday, slightly overthrowing a route in the left corner of the end zone. But other than that mistake, Wentz was virtually flawless, with his best pass being a 25-yard sideline toss.
Bradford wasn't nearly as sharp, missing badly more than once. Most of his misses were on throws that sailed on him, especially on a few deep balls.
According to ESPN, the Eagles offense didn't look as sharp with Bradford under center while Wentz appeared comfortable in the pocket and didn't rush his throws.
Wentz and Bradford faced either the Eagles' second-team unit or no defenders at all. With so much time left until Week 1 against the Browns, Tuesday's session most likely won't weigh heavily on who eventually starts. But Wentz's strong showing early is a good sign for the Eagles, who traded five picks to move up to the No. 2 spot in this year's draft.
