GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Carson Palmer says there was no hesitation when he was approached by the Arizona Cardinals about a contract extension in what he calls ''a dream situation'' to finish his career.

The 36-year-old quarterback and nine-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald each agreed to one-year extensions last Friday.

The deal puts Palmer under contract through the 2018 season, Fitzgerald through 2017.

In his first comments since agreeing to the extension, Palmer said he's worked his entire career to be in a situation like this and ''is so happy'' that this is where his career will end. He is in his 14th NFL season, the last three with the Cardinals

Last season, after coming back from a torn ACL, Palmer set personal and franchise records in yards passing, touchdowns and quarterback rating.
