Cardinals teammates heap praise on new addition Chris Johnson

It's been six years since Chris Johnson topped the 2,000-yard mark. Back then, he was viewed as arguably the top back in the league.

Fast forward to 2015: Johnson has not reached double-digit touchdowns since 2010, and did not top the century mark in rushing yards in 2014.

He's about to turn 30 in September.

Still, his teammates who have played against him previously only had positive reviews about the dynamic running back.

“You can’t make a mistake gap-wise, that’s for sure,” Jerraud Powers said of Johnson, per ESPN. “He’s got a lot of home-run balls on his resume as far as going yard. He’s a tough player. He’s more physical than he looks. He can take hits. He’s powerful."

Frostee Rucker echoed similar sentiments.

“He hits the hole hard, he catches the ball out of the backfield,” Rucker said. “He’s a complete running back.”

Could Andre Ellington and Johnson transform the Cardinals ground game into one of the best come fall? It would only help Carson Palmer and the pass game, and would add another dimension to an Arizona offense that struggled running the ball in 2014 (31st in rushing yards per game, 32nd in yards per carry).

“He’s a very savvy football player, and I think he’ll be a great addition to our team," Calais Campbell said of Johnson. "What we like to do, I think he fits in very nicely.”
