Cam Newton Walks Out of Press Conference After Loss to Saints (Video)
Cam Newton was having none of his post-game press conference following the Carolina Panthers loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers had ridiculously high hopes coming into the 2016 NFL season and rightfully so. After losing only one game in all of 2015, the Panthers already had four losses coming into Week 6. They fell behind big early to the New Orleans Saints on the road. However, they were able to fight back.
In the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, a fantastic rushing touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion tied the game at 38-38. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the game wasn’t over though. The disappointing Panthers defense allowed Drew Brees and the Saints to drive down the field. They then pulled into field goal range. From there, rookie kicker Will Lutz hit the game-winner and the Panthers couldn’t score in the remaining 11 seconds.
During the post-game press conference, Cam Newton was obviously unhappy with the way things played out. After all, he did all that he could to pick up the win. After just a minute or so, though, he wasn’t having any of it. The Panthers quarterback then proceeded to walk out of the presser (H/T Black and Blue Review):
That’s not a great look for Newton after all, but it is reminiscent of his press conference following the Super Bowl 50 loss. He stormed out of that one as well.
While you don’t like to see that from your franchise player, it’s got to be hard in his shoes right now. He did everything he could to keep the Panthers alive. And the defense couldn’t do their part. Even still, Newton has to show a bit more professionalism.
