Cam Newton reminds everyone: 'I was doing this when we were 3-8-1'
Sure, Cam Newton dances, he gets the crowd excited and most importantly, he has fun. The Carolina Panthers quarterback is just that kind of person, and for what it's worth, he's always been that kind of person. Heck, Newton even points out that back when the Panthers were 3-8-1 last season, that he was still out there having a good time. So, what's changed from the past for Newton when it comes to how people view his outgoing personality?
Via David Newton of ESPN:
“I think a lot of it has to do with winning," Newton said on Wednesday. “I can tell you that. If I was doing a lot of things I’m doing right now and we weren’t winning, I’d get ate up and spit back out -- especially with the dancing that some people approve of, some people don’t.
“I’m human. I understand that winning sweeps a lot of stuff up under the rug. But my influence hasn’t changed. I was doing this when we were 3-8-1."
Newton makes a pretty good point. He's always been the type of person to wear his emotion on his sleeve. If his team was 3-8-1, and he scored a big touchdown late, you can bet that he'd still be celebrating. Now, though, he's doing his dancing when his team is 13-0 and have won 17 straight regular-season games.
