Buccaneers Sign Dan Vitale to Practice Squad

On Friday the Buccaneers brought back sixth round pick Dan Vitale, signing him to the practice squad.
Vitale returns! The 22 year old “superback” from Northwestern was the Buccaneers sixth round pick last April, but wasn’t able to stand out enough in the off-season to make the Bucs 53 man roster. The Bucs cut Vitale and he was signed a few days later by the Buffalo Bills.
VItale’s time with the Bills was short however as he curiously failed his physical and was waived. Vitale posted shortly after on social media that he was fully healthy and ready to play, and the Bucs seem to agree. Vitale becomes the tenth member of the Bucs’ practice squad.
In all likelihood we won’t see or hear much from Vitale this season, barring an injury to a tight end or running back, but his versatility and ability to be a chess piece could be a valuable asset for the Bucs to keep in their back pocket. Vitale is by all accounts a good kid with the right attitude and work ethic, so he should be a fun underdog story for Buccaneer fans to follow.
