Bruce Arians says rookie D.J. Humphries is maturing

Published Jun. 1, 2015 7:19 p.m. ET

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians caused quite a bit of commotion last week when he told the media that first-round pick D.J. Humphries "needs to mature a little bit". One week later and it sounds like Humphries has grown up quite a bit.

“You’d like to see steady improvement in practice habits, work habits, weight-room habits, all those things,” Arians said, via ESPN. “And he’s doing that.”

Arians went on to remind everyone that Humphries is still very young and has a lot of time to learn and grow as his career moves forward.

“He’s only what? 20 years old? 21 years old?” Arians said. “He’s a college kid still. This is a professional league. He’s figuring it out fast.”
