Browns sixth-round TE Randall Telfer could miss bulk of season

Head coach Mike Pettine recently revealed that another Browns draft pick is recovering from surgery.
Sixth-round tight end Randall Telfer out of Southern California underwent surgery for a mid-foot fracture back in February. Recovery time could last anywhere from four to eight months and it's possible he'll start the season on the physically unable to perform list.
Telfer suffered the injury in the Holiday Bowl against Nebraska on Dec. 27. The Browns had Telfer rated high on their tight end board despite the injury.
"He was one of our top-rated tight ends,'' Pettine told Cleveland.com. "We were fortunate to be able to get him when we did. We all know that the injury's well-documented, but there is a chance that he'll be able to help us late in the year.''
The Browns also added two tight ends in rookie camp. Iowa State's Emmanuel Bibbs, who was ranked among the top 10 tight ends by some draft analysts, and Kevin Haplea out of Florida State were added for more depth.
Telfer is one of three Browns' draftees recovering from surgery. Fourth-round receiver Vince Mayle had his broken right thumb repaired last week, but is expected to be ready for training camp.
Cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu's recovery from a torn ACL and dislocated knee could keep him out his entire rookie season. The seventh-rounder was projected to be a possible first-round pick before suffering his injury at Oregon.
