The Cleveland Browns brought everything but the kitchen sink to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert in Sunday's 24-10 win.

The Browns sacked Gabbert nine times with two apiece from linebackers Armonty Bryant and Nate Orchard. Sunday's onslaught marked the first time this season any NFL team notched more than eight sacks in a game, and also represented the Browns' highest total since returning to Cleveland in 1999. The previous high was eight against the Steelers in 2009.

"I don’t know the last time the Browns had nine sacks," said head coach Mike Pettine via the team's official website. "That’s a credit to that group and the pass rush plan (defensive line coach) Anthony Weaver put together for those guys, and they went out and executed."

To answer Pettine's inquiry, the last time was 1993 against New Orleans. The franchise record for sacks in a game is 11, set in 1984 against Atlanta. The Browns also had a nine-sack performance in 1988 against the Eagles.

"At some point you’ve got to man up and say enough is enough,” said defensive end Desmond Bryant, who added 1 1/2 sacks and a forced fumble. “We said that this week, put in the work that was necessary and we finally got the W we’ve been looking for.”
