After trading away two earlier picks, the Cleveland Browns selected Notre Dame safety Jamoris Slaughter in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
The Browns traded their fourth- and fifth-round picks for selections in 2014 before using pick No. 175 on Slaughter, who had his 2012 season cut short after three games because of a left Achilles injury.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder played outside linebacker before switching to safety with the Fighting Irish.
The Browns needed to add depth at safety behind starter T.J. Ward and backups Eric Hagg and Tashaun Gipson. Slaughter can also play special teams.
