Browns let personnel man Jon Sandusky go

Published May. 19, 2015 2:18 p.m. ET

The Browns have decided not to renew the contract of former director of player personnel Jon Sandusky, according to Northeast Media Group.

Sandusky, who demoted to an associate role heading into last season, came to the Browns from Philadelphia as former GM Tom Heckert's top assistant. He played a role in the drafting of Joe Haden, T.J. Ward, Josh Gibson and Tashaun Gipson.

The decision reportedly caught Sandusky off guard, as he was expecting to remain with the club after receiving a favorable review from the front office after the draft. Sandusky was also reportedly dismayed at the timing of the move, since it comes at a time when most team's personnel departments are set.

Browns GM Ray Farmer is expected to fill the vacancy created by Sandusky's exit, according to the report.
