Broncos vote in favor of recertifying union

Published Jul. 29, 2011 9:46 p.m. ET

The Denver Broncos have voted unanimously in favor of recertifying the NFL Players Association as a union and of ratifying the league's new labor deal.

Safety Brian Dawkins, who is on the executive committee of the NFLPA, said the Broncos gathered Wednesday and went over everything before the players signed their union cards and gave the 10-year accord the OK.

Dawkins called it "an easy sell."

All NFL players must take a majority vote to approve returning the NFLPA to union status. The organization dissolved into a trade association on March 11.

Once the NFLPA regains its union status, it can finish negotiating the labor agreement with the NFL. Having that done will allow players who've agreed to new deals to join their teams.
