ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) The Denver Broncos have selected Ohio State tight end Jeff Heuerman in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Heuerman caught 17 passes for 207 yards and two TDs last season for the national champion Buckeyes. Heuerman said he's ''ecstatic'' to catch passes from Peyton Manning.

Denver is trying to replace tight end Julius Thomas, who signed with Jacksonville in the offseason.

Earlier Friday, the Broncos picked Colorado State offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo in the second round. They took Missouri pass rusher Shane Ray in the first round.
