Brandon Marshall: Jets want to be known as 'best team in New York'

Head coach Todd Bowles may not think Sunday's showdown between the New York Jets and New York Giants is a rivalry game, but it's hard to deny the magnitude of the game for those involved.

The Jets have lost five straight to the Giants and are looking to end a decade-long skid, while they're also hoping to grab their seventh win of the season. For Brandon Marshall, this week's game comes with bragging rights -- and big bragging rights at that.

“Because it’s two teams in the same city, it’s definitely a rivalry,” Marshall said on SiriusXM’s “Mad Dog Radio Show.” “We definitely want to be known as the best team in New York and we have to go out there and fight for that this weekend.”

As of now, the Jets are the best team in New York, beating out the Giants and the Buffalo Bills. However, recent history says otherwise, with the Giants winning more Super Bowls than the Jets in the last decade. A win on Sunday wouldn't make the Jets New York's all-time greatest team, but it would bring a boatload of pride to the Jets' locker room.

Center Nick Mangold understands what's on the line and is looking forward to the game this week.

“It’s different having a team in your same hometown,” Mangold said. “It’s something that, until you experience it, you don’t really understand it."

Unfortunately for the Jets, they may be without Darrelle Revis, which likely makes the Giants favorites in this one.
