Brandon Jacobs back in blue after Giants agree to one-year deal

Seventeen months after being released by the New York Giants, running back Brandon Jacobs is back in blue, the team announced. FOX Sports 1's Mike Garafolo first had the story.
It was highly unlikely that a reunion would ever come to fruition as Jacobs and the Giants had a very publicized breakup. Jacobs was unhappy when his friend Ahmad Bradshaw started at running back over him in 2010.
"No one's your friend in this business," Jacobs said after the incident in 2010. "This is a cutthroat, backstabbing business. That's just the way it goes. It's been like that before me. If you expect anything else out of a business like this, you're crazy."
Well, the past must be in the past as Jacobs has agreed to terms on a one-year deal.
Jacobs was reportedly one of several running backs who worked out for the team, but his conditioning, familiarity with the offense and ability to mentor second-year running back David Wilson were the difference in the decision.
Wilson, who had two fumbles in Sunday nightâs game against the Cowboys, was benched by head coach Tom Coughlin. The Giants head coach was very indecisive answering questions about his running back situation after the game, and a move was apparent.
Jacobs brings a veteran presence into the locker room and even has a few supporters of his former teammates.
"Brandon was a great Giant," safety Antrel Rolle said Tuesday. "I'd like to have him back but itâs not my call. I think he would bring balance to the run and the pass."
