Bills activate rookie DB Meeks off short-term IR

Published Dec. 10, 2013 3:37 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Bills have activated rookie defensive back Jonathan Meeks off the injured reserve/designated for return list.

The move on Tuesday came on the first day Meeks was eligible to be activated after missing eight weeks with a sprained right ankle. Meeks was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson, and had appeared in Buffalo's first six games.

To make room on their roster, the Bills released linebacker Jamaal Westerman.

The Bills also shuffled receivers on their practice squad by signing Brandon Kaufman and cutting Tommy Streeter. Kaufman, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Eastern Washington, returns to Buffalo after being cut by the team last summer.
