Bill Belichick shows up with mysterious black eye, says 'I'll live'

The New England Patriots took it easy last week during their first-round bye in order to get healthy for the divisional round, but it didn't seem to go as planned. At least, with regards to head coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick showed up to his press conference on Tuesday with a mysterious black eye, and it looks painful.

As expected, Belichick downplayed the injury and isn't expected to miss Saturday's game -- not that it was likely.

"I think I'll live," he said via Mike Reiss of ESPN. "I don't think we need to list the coaches on the injury report. But I'm sure if we're required to do it, we'll do it."

The short-spoken head coach didn't give any details as to how it happened, but there are several possible scenarios. Did Tom Brady finally have a sip of coffee and go absolutely bonkers? Was Belichick too close to Gronk when he was dancing like a wild man?

We may never know.
