Bengals mad about possible suspensions

Published Sep. 26, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Bengals union representative Andrew Whitworth is upset that running back Cedric Benson and other NFL players are facing suspensions for offseason incidents.

Benson and cornerback Adam ''Pacman'' Jones are appealing suspensions for arrests that occurred during the NFL's lockout. Eight players overall are facing suspensions under the league's conduct policy.

Whitworth said Monday he wouldn't have supported the collective bargaining agreement if he knew players would be suspended for things that happened when there was no deal in place.

Benson served five days in a Texas jail settling two misdemeanor assault cases before the season began.
