North Carolina says newly hired assistant coach Brian Baker is leaving to take a job with the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.
Baker will coach the Cowboys' defensive line, the same position he had with the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels hired Baker in January as the permanent replacement for John Blake, who resigned in September after his close friendship with NFL agent Gary Wichard became part of the NCAA investigation into the football program.
In a statement released by the school, Baker said the Cowboys ''provided an opportunity I couldn't refuse.''

Baker had spent the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The former Maryland linebacker coached 12 seasons in college and 15 seasons in the NFL.
