Alabama WR Amari Cooper visited the Redskins

Up until now, there hasn't been much draft talk centered around the Redskins using their No. 5 overall selection on a wide receiver. The Redskins already have Pierre Garcon, Desean Jackson and Andre Roberts on the roster. Wide receiver Ryan Grant, a Redskins late-round draft pick from 2014 will also be in the mix.

However, the best option in the draft is often to take the best player available regardless of team need. When the Redskins select at No. 5 overall, that player might just be Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper.

On Friday, Aaron Wilson from the National Football Post and Ravens Insider listed the Redskins as one of the teams who hosted Cooper for a pre-draft visit.

A wide receiver with Cooper's skill set fits perfectly in head coach Jay Gruden's offensive scheme that utilizes a high majority of quick-breaking routes. Cooper excels in the short area with quickness, agility and crisp route running. First year general manager Scot McCloughan has focused on rebuilding the trenches and the secondary so far this offseason, but it will be interesting to see if he gets swayed by a blue chip prospect like Cooper.
