Game day is here for the Washington Redskins. What crazy events could unfold on the main stage in Week 11?

Today is the day Washington Redskins fans. The Redskins are going to be playing a prime time matchup against the Green Bay Packers. They will look to improve upon their 5-3-1 record in tonight’s game and really sink the ship for the Packers.

The Packers have struggled of late, losing their last three games and falling to 4-5 on the season. Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat coming into this game, so he is going to have to motivate the team coming into this game. Should they lose, he could be in trouble in the near future.

Tonight’s game is going to be an intense battle, and it will certainly be a fun game to watch. Here is a look at some bold predictions for today’s game.

5. Robert Kelley Manages 50 Yards On 15 Carries

Tonight’s game is likely to feature a back-and-forth offensive showdown. Because of that, I think that Robert Kelley’s upside will be severely limited by this factor. The young back has showed some talent running between the tackles, but his ability in the passing game is more questionable.

Kelley may not be on the field as much as usual if the Redskins run a pass heavy attack. Chris Thompson could get more snaps and that would decrease Kelley’s ability to make an impact. I think that he will still fare decent, but the Packers have had a strong run defense this year. In fact, they fourth in the league, allowing only 84.4 yards per game.

With all of this working against Kelley, I think he will have the most underwhelming game of his pro career to date. That is not saying much, as Kelley has played extremely well in each of his starts, but Sunday night may not be his day. Perhaps he will do better when he takes on the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

4. Will Compton Makes 10 Tackles

This season, Will Compton has been a huge playmaker for the Redskins. The fourth year linebacker has stepped into a full time starting role for the first time during the 2016 campaign, and he has been nothing short of spectacular. The captain has been a leader on and off the field, and he should have some success against the Packers.

The Packers have struggled to run the ball in recent weeks, and as a result they have relied on a passing heavy attack. They could do the same thing on Sunday night, though James Starks could have something to say about that. Regardless of what they do, Compton will be able to make plays.

Compton has been strong in both coverage and in run support this season. He is the most solid linebacker on the team and his instincts are strong as well. He should be able to get into the double digits in terms of total tackles. I think that Aaron Rodgers will throw over the middle a lot to Davante Adams, so that could be huge for Compton. Overall, expect the veteran to post one of his most impressive stat lines of the season.

3. Chris Baker Records 1.5 Sacks

Chris Baker has definitely been the best interior lineman this season for the Redskins. The long time Redskin has been very solid this season and he has consistently helped in run support and in terms of rushing the passer. He and Ziggy Hood have formed a decent interior tandem and it looks like both should be a part of the team’s future.

That said, I think Baker could stand to improve on his overall stat totals in this contest. He has recorded 2 sacks thus far, but he will put up more before the season is over. Sunday’s game could be the best chance for him to do it.

The Packers have some young players on the interior line in Lane Taylor and Corey Linsley. Taylor has only been a full time starter this year while Linsley has been a starter for three, but has only played in two games in 2016. The duo may not be ready to take on the challenge of facing Baker.

As a result of this, Baker should get a chance to pressure Rodgers. He could blast through the line on a few occasions and at the end of the day, I think he will have a sack and a half to his name.

    2. Pierre Garcon Records 100+ Receiving Yards, 2 Touchdowns

The Packers secondary has had some major issues over the past couple of weeks. They are without top cornerback Sam Shields, who is on IR, and second year Damarious Randall has been limited to just four games this season. As a result, the team has had to rely on a bunch of young players at the position, and the results have been poor in recent weeks. The team gave up 47 points to the Packers last week and the Redskins may look to do the same.

With that said, I think that Pierre Garcon has a chance to put up some huge numbers. DeSean Jackson is supposedly going to play, but if he does, he could have a limited range of motion. Also, he could draw the coverage of the top corner on the Green Bay team, whoever that may be, so Garcon could get some favorable matchups.

I expect that Kirk Cousins will look to heavily target Garcon. Garcon has always been a reliable receiver, and he is coming off of one of the best games of his season. He should be able to use his physicality to matchup well against the young cornerbacks. His abilities to make contested catches will definitely help the team out.

When it’s all said and done, I think that Garcon will post some huge numbers. Having a couple of touchdowns and over 100 receiving yards would definitely qualify as such.

      1. Kirk Cousins Totals Over 350 Yards Passing, 4 Touchdowns

As mentioned in the Garcon slide, the Packers have a weak secondary. They will struggle to defend the pass. Kirk Cousins is going to be able to take advantage of that.

Over the course of the season, the Redskins have showed the ability to create mismatches in the secondary with their tight ends and receivers. They have as many as five solid options when fully healthy, and running back Chris Thompson can also catch passes coming out of the backfield. If this game becomes the slugfest that I expect it to be, Cousins could make a huge impact.

Cousins started last week’s game against the Vikings with a bang, leading two early touchdown drives. Given that the Vikings have one of the strongest defenses in the league, that is impressive. It also bodes well for Cousins in his matchup against the Packers. He should be able to get the protection he needs from his offensive line and will be able to have time to find the open man. His accuracy is his biggest strength, so that will also help his cause.

This could be a signature game for Cousins and it could be a big day for the quarterback. If he puts up over 350 yards and four touchdowns, he will almost solidify himself as the franchise quarterback for the team.
