49ers vs Bears: A Battle of Losers

Next Sunday the San Francisco 49ers will visit the Chicago Bears in a battle of awful teams. While some teams compete for playoff spots, the 1-10 49ers and 2-9 Bears are battling for top draft picks.

The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears will be playing for draft picks next week in Chicago. In fact, the loser of this game will hold the second overall pick in the NFL draft — if the loser can continue to avoid victory.

Both teams continue to look for their quarterback of the future. The 49ers have all but exhausted their patience with Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert and may be best served without either on the roster next fall. Bears fans have been calling for Jay Cutler to go for years, and may finally get their wish.

It is with this backdrop in mind that the 1-10 49ers visit the 2-9 Bears. Two teams with proud and storied histories will need to prop up memories of the 1980s to dull the pain of the present. The Bears, losers of three straight, will host the 49ers, who set a franchise-record last week by becoming the sole possessors of the longest losing streak in team history: 10 games.

Colin Kaepernick will be under center for the 49ers, but he is far removed from the 2012 sensation that burst onto the scene in his first career start against the NFC North leading Bears.

Neither team will win their division. First overall pick could still be earned, however.

The game will take place at 1 pm ET at Soldier Field and will be televised on FOX, if you can stand to watch. At least the 49ers could finally win again!
