Would Pelicans consider trading Ryan Anderson for Markieff Morris?

Published Sep. 10, 2015 11:25 a.m. ET

Ryan Anderson will be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the upcoming season, and if the Pelicans make the leap many are expecting, his value could reach an all-time high.

Markieff Morris has demanded a trade from the Suns, and was fined for doing so publicly. He's unhappy there, so Phoenix may look to move him at some point, perhaps closer to the trade deadline if he plays well enough to re-establish some value.

Zach Lowe of Grantland wonders if a trade between the two teams might make some sense.

Nothing is likely to happen on this front until after the season has begun, particularly on the Pelicans' side because of this year's expectations. But it will remain interesting to watch.

If the Pelicans are afraid of losing Ryan Anderson, why not check in about a deal centered around an Anderson/Morris swap? Morris can’t shoot like Anderson, but he’s better at other stuff, and his health record is much cleaner.
