Will Philadelphia 76ers End November With Five Or More Wins?
Standing at 2-9, the Philadelphia 76ers are off to their best start since the 2013-2014 season. Can this carry them to five or more wins by November’s end?
The Philadelphia 76ers stand at two wins, nine losses, and face eight more games to play in the month of November 2016. In November 2013, the Philadelphia 76ers ended the month at 6-11. While six wins seems overly optimistic, there is hope that this team might win some more games this month. Maybe up to five wins?
Could it happen?
Well, let’s look at the schedule:
Coming up, the 76ers face games @ Minnesota (3-7), home to face Phoenix (3-9), Miami (2-8), Memphis (6-5), Chicago (7-4), and Cleveland (9-2), @ Toronto (7-4), then back home to face Sacramento (4-8).
While no game can ever be a certainty for victory with the Philadelphia 76ers this year, the team is facing other NBA teams who are struggling as well. Furthermore, does early success bode well for the team in the big picture?
Why yes, yes it does.
More from The Sixer Sense
While the 76ers visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves may result in another loss, the team enjoys a very friendly home court to take on the Phoenix Suns , the Miami Heat, and the Sacramento Kings. The team should enter each contest with the belief that they can win those games, particularly if rookie center Joel Embiid is able to take the court in those contests.
Right now, Philadelphia’s offense is on the rise. Starting the season last at just 92.8 points per game, the 76ers have climbed to 96.8 in just two weeks. While 108.3 points per game on defense is not something worth bragging about, the defense did play against six of the top scoring NBA teams so far this year.
While the team is not leading the NBA in any statistic, the team has managed not to fall to last in any meaningful statistic as well. Statistics prove this team is more fundamentally sound than previous campaigns.
Ultimately, the goal is to win a championship. But to do that the team must win games. Before that happens, the team must win statistically.
The nose is up on this nosediving plane, Philly fans. There are no guarantees for a smooth ride just yet. But the fear of crash landing should abate. By mid-season, the team will be reinforced with a returning Ben Simmons, Jerryd Bayless, and Nerlens Noel.
