Tim Hardaway suspended three games from the Detroit Pistons

Assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons, Tim Hardaway, was suspended for the first three games of the upcoming regular season.

The NBA recently suspended Detroit Pistons’ assistant coach, Tim Hardaway, three games from the regular season. A statement expressing the suspension’s details was released earlier today.

Per NBA.com:

“Detroit Pistons’ assistant coach Tim Hardaway has been suspended three games for pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated with an excessive blood alcohol level, in violation of the law of the State of Michigan, the NBA announced today.
Hardaway will be suspended for the first three games of the 2016-17 NBA regular season.”

In April, Hardaway was pulled over for speeding, resulting to his arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Reported in September, Hardaway was sentenced to an 18 month probation and 10 days of community service for the infringement. Now, a three-game suspension has been tacked on.

Fortunately for Tim Hardaway, this is his only offence, granting him some security for his position.

Stan Van Gundy has also expressed his position with the issue, indicating he understands and intends to move on. Under no circumstance does Hardaway’s position seem to be in jeopardy.

Per Aaron McMann of MLive:

“But it’s one time,” Van Gundy said. “As soon as it happened – the initial thing, in April – I talked to Tom (Gores) as I always do on things, and we talked it through. We move on.”

Hardaway will miss games against the Toronto Raptors, the Orlando Magic and the Milwaukee Bucks, and will return to the sidelines on November 1st against the New York Knicks.
