The three-point line has changed how teams defend the Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets have not been feared beyond the arc in recent years. It's hurt their spacing and cramped their offense.
But this season, thanks to the arrival of several new players and a decision to embrace the three-point line by Charlotte's coaching staff, the team is firing on all cylinders. Defenses don't know how to guard them. Here's more, courtesy of The Charlotte Observer:
The Hornets are fourth in three-pointers made and attempted per game this season. Last year, they finished 26th and 24th, respectively. That, obviously, is a major turnaround, and one of the biggest reasons why this team will probably make the playoffs.
“When you make 3s it changes everything,” Walker said. “It helps our post-up game and also teams have to go over rather than under our screens. I know a couple of years ago we weren’t very good at guarding the 3 ball, and that hurt us a lot. Now we’re the ones making 3s and that changes everything.”
