Study: J.R. Smith plays better when Lil Wayne releases music
J.R. Smith is known as one of the NBA's most inconsistent performers. When he's hot, he looks like one of the best scorers in the game. When he's not, things can get pretty ugly.
But according to a recent study, there just might be a solution to harnessing Smith's immense talent. The key? Smith's favorite musician, Lil Wayne.
Hashtag Important's Kenny Ducey did some intense research, finding that, since 2005, Smith has posted some of his best performances immediately following a release from Lil Wayne. In the 11-game sample, Smith has scored 19.5 PPG (career average: 13.2), shot 49.4 percent from the field (career average: 42.4 percent) and even has made an extra 3-pointer (3.0 per game vs. 1.9 per game) as well.
The poster-child game for this theory? On Dec. 23, 2009, Smith scored 41 points on 15-of-25 shooting with 10 threes vs. the Atlanta Hawks. Lil Wayne released hit "We Are Young Money" just two days prior.
We're just saying: maybe now we can predict when Smith will go off. Anyone know when Lil Wayne releases his next album?
