Sixers reportedly talking to Elton Brand, Shane Battier about front office roles

The 76ers have a credibility problem, thanks to their ridiculous rebuilding strategy that has yet to yield any tangible results.

The lack of veterans on the roster has translated to behavioral problems with Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel, and the lack of direction in the front office led to the addition of Jerry Colangelo, which came at the request of the league in order to more quickly help turn things around.

With all of that in mind, NBA.com's David Aldridge reports that the team is talking to former players with stellar reputations to join the organization.

It's unclear what either player's exact role would be should they eventually be hired. But what we do know is that ownership has finally admitted that things aren't working, and that real changes in the franchise's leadership need to be made.

Changes are already afoot. Sources confirmed a Yahoo! Sports report Saturday that the 76ers plan to bring in former Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni within the next few weeks to sit on the Philly bench as associate head coach. Other sources said the Sixers are talking to former star Elton Brand and NBA veteran Shane Battier about joining the organization, hoping to bring in guys with sterling reputations to serve as role models for the young players.
