Sixers reportedly 'supporting, not blaming' Okafor after street fight

Jahlil Okafor was caught on video punching a man outside of a Boston nightclub on Wednesday, and though the police reportedly won't be investigating any further, it's unclear whether or not Okafor might face discipline from the NBA or the Sixers for his involvement in the incident.

A report from ESPN's Chris Broussard, however, suggests that the team is taking the more positive approach.

Okafor might be in the NBA, but he's just 19 years of age. That's not an excuse for the way he behaved, but the fact that he's so young means he still has a lot to learn about life in the spotlight.

I spoke with somebody close to him. They’ve talked to the 76ers. They’ve talked with the NBA.

The Sixers are very supportive of Okafor. They understand the situation, but they have to do their due diligence and look into it.

The Sixers are supporting him. They’re not blaming him. If they have to discipline, it still won’t sully him in their eyes.

Again, I’m told that they’re very supportive of him.
